BACK BAY, Mass. – Soccer fans gathered at Dick’s House of Sport in Back Bay to celebrate the return of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) to Boston. The new team, Bos Nation FC, was unveiled to a cheering crowd of all ages as leaders took

the stage.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu took the stage, expressing her enthusiasm for the milestone in women’s sports and its significance for the city.

“This is a city where change begins,” Wu said.

Bos Nation FC will play its home games at White Horse Stadium in Franklin Park, Roxbury. The team will be the first professional sports team in the United States to be cohoused with a public school district.

“They will get to play on the same turf, the same spaces as those they look up to the most,” Wu told the crowd.

In addition to increasing the visibility of women in the soccer community, Bos Nation FC will serve as role models for the youth.

Edo MacNaughton, a young soccer fan who attended the event with her mother and younger brother, shared her passion for the sport and excitement for the new team.

“I love soccer. I love women’s soccer, so I’ll be excited to have someone to cheer for,” MacNaughton said.

The introduction of a professional women’s soccer team reflects Boston’s commitment to inclusion and community. Everyone is welcome. Soccer is a unifying sport that the city can now enjoy for both men’s and women’s teams.

“[Soccer] includes everyone. It doesn’t discriminate against anyone,” said Charlie Davies, a former men’s professional soccer player, speaking to reporters.

A new wave of women’s soccer is approaching, and Bos Nation FC is the newest member. Boston fans, leaders, and officials made it clear that the city is once again preparing for change.

Bos Nation FC will begin competition in 2026, marking a new chapter in Boston’s sports history.
